The University of Sheffield International Faculty, CITY College, is proud to support DEVit 2017 as a ‘Gold Partner’. This is the third consecutive year that the International Faculty supports the DEVit Conference, a major web development conference in Greece and the broader region. The event will take place at the Royal Theatre of Thessaloniki while DEVit Workshops will take place at our main campus (Sofou building)
Each year, DEVit brings together remarkable speakers and web developers from all over the world who share their knowledge, modern practices and techniques on Frontend, Backend, DevOps or Mobile.

Android: From Zero to Hero

Workshop Description: The workshop deals with the design and implementation of applications for mobile devices using the Android operating system. Participants work at all stages of the development life-cycle from inception to deployment, whilst considering usability and device capabilities for a mobile application capable of meeting a functional specification. Participants are introduced to the programming environment for application development and have a hands-on approach to programming using the appropriate programming languages.
The Workshop will cover:
Challenges of Mobile Development
Introduction to the Android development environment
Fundamental App components
Basic UI Widgets
Laying out UI components
Multi-screen Apps with Intents
Ivo graduated from CITY College, International Faculty of the University of Sheffield with the BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and the MSc in Software Engineering and Telecommunications.
