Hotel and Hospitality track students of the Business Administration & Economics Department, CITY College University of York Europe Campus, visited Grand Hotel Palace in Thessaloniki to meet and discuss with senior executives current trends in the industry as part of their unit Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism. Students were accompanied by Dr. Lemonia Papadopoulou-Kelidou.
Mr. Yiannis Aslanis, General Manager, offered a warm hospitality to CITY College’s delegation, while Mrs Maria Chatziparaschi, Guest Relations Manager and Mrs Katerina Toutziari, Director of Sales and Revenue, shared with students their knowledge and experience pertaining to guest relations, sales and marketing issues.
Grand Hotel Palace is a five-star hotel, operating since 2004 and counting 259 rooms including 8 suites. Mrs Chatziparaschi and Mrs Toutziari underlined that being honest with customers is the strongest tip of success. Caring about your customers, decoding their body language and offering customized services via team work is the backbone of the corporate culture of the hotel. Mrs Toutziari underlined the importance of being aware of the product, the destination, the competitors as well as the imperative need to create collaborations within the market. Targets’ achievement, according to Mrs Toutziari, is based on sharing goals with employees and on raising awareness of the general engraved strategy since “everybody is doing sales in a hotel”.
Students visited renovated rooms and suites, conference rooms, restaurant and breakfast area while small presents were kindly offered to them, as a kind gesture of their truly warm hospitality.
Christmas decoration both in the outside and the inside area of the hotel cheered students.
